Please feel free to nosy around or email me by clicking the caughing letterbox in the bottom left of the screen CHAMPIONS!! and winners of the One Day 4A Championship for 2001/02. thats back to back titles that this team has won now. the One Day 4's went unbeaten in our last 11 matches to win the championship, sweeping all before us along the way. We prevailed in a tense, but entertained final at the weekend. Takapuna A saved their best for last, taking the game right to us. they batted first and notched up an imposing 258/9 from their 40 overs. Thats the largest target we've been set all season. Gavin Daniels and Rob Good claimed 3 wickets each, although our bowling and fielding was generally below par. the preasure of the day telling a bit. In reply we were dead and buried. 69/5 after a top order collapse, and heads were down. Its a tribute to our tenacity this season that we managed to answer the call. Darryl Good led the fightback with a timely 31, but the real star was Brad Taylor. After hardly buying a run this season, he produced an outstanding 92 not out under pressure. The required run rate was pushing 8 an over at times. So from indifferent to inspired - we hit the winning runs with 9 balls and 4 wickets to spare. the rest is history |
