Papatoetoe One Day Four's Web Page

Last weekend saw the last of the round-robin matches played to decide the top-four positions in our competition. Needless to say we completed a clean sweep of the other teams in the second round. We are the top qualifiers for the playoffs which start in a fortnight. A first for our team. Our latest victory came at the expense of Eden/Roskill at home last weekend. Once again Liam lost the toss and we were put in the field. Once again we recovered from a bad start to bowl them out cheaply, and once again we rollicked home at 10 runs an over to win comfortably. Almost a bit of a yawn really. No-one wants to make a game of it. Of our guys this week, kudos to Gavin Daniels who continued his good form with 3/45 from 10 agressive overs. Eden/Roskill were dismissed for 197 after being 130/2 at one stage. Once again Aaron Taylor carved up in the reply. He hit six sixes in his innings of 97, Falling just three short of a ton, but a c.b none-the-less. That's three successive games where one batsmen has scored more than 90! Anyway, no such probs with the chase and we reached the target in the 19th over. Loose Ends of news ... * We finished the round-robin phase on 31.5 points. Six clear of East Coast Bays Green who finshed on 25.5. A.I.S.C and Takapuna A make up the rest of the top four. * We have a week off now due to a One Day International at Eden Park this weekend against England. The playoffs start the following weekend (march 2nd). Go Us! * The annual Papatoetoe Cricket Club Six-a-side tournament kicks into gear on sunday, March 3rd at the rec. The One Day fours are entering two teams this year. An 'A' team, and a combined side with the One Day Fives (Wades team). Two shots are better than one we figure. *Finally, one of our regulars, Rob Good, ties the knot next weekend.. The start of a rot maybe ... ok maybe not, but all the best in married life from all the team. .... we'll still fine your ass! cheers ginge.
