Papatoetoe One Day Four's Web Page
News & Views; February 10 2002
Our ruthless march to the finals has continued this week with a seventh straight victory against joint leaders Indian Sports over the weekend. To their credit, A.I.S.C put up a good fight, rattling up 239 to be all out off the last ball of the innings. At one stage they were 111/2 which looked ominous for us. Darryl Good put in his best spell for the team bagging 4/39 from 10 overs. Our habit of achieving the rediculous reached a new height in the chase. We reached the target of 240 with 8 wickets and 15 overs to spare. Chris Saunoa smashed his way to an unbeaten 107 (the first ton of the summer - and two doz - cheers coco). The skipper, Liam Clarke decided to get off his butt and contribute, with a lightning 53 to get the chase rolling. So with a solitary round to play until the finals we hold the outright lead ... * yawn* ... just another day at the office really. Round 14 is at home to Eden/Roskill this coming saturday (feb 16) In other news ... * The annual Cricket max comp kicks into gear on Feb 24 at the rec. This year it will be spread over two days, the later of which is next month. * This season is turning out a good one for Papatoetoe teams. The prems are well placed in the two day comp, while the One Day Fives & Presidents Grade are 2nd and 1st respectively, counting down to the playoffs which begin on March 2. * We have our new shirts from the Hunters Inn. I'll try to organise a team pic to post on the website in coming weeks. Ginge. (a.k.a the non-playing manager of everything)
